This was back in the ridiculous Carter double-nickel days ;-)
Oh, I thought you'd move up to blaming Clinton for everything that's
wrong now.
Gosh, I remember when the worst item on the news was commentary on the
president's sex life. Now, I see pictures of dead soldiers. Oh, and
I get stopped by the border patrol. And if someone says "witch", er,
"communist", er "terrorist" your legal protections are all gone. Good
thing we're now guilty at accusation, otherwise innocent people would
get hurt. Don't try this anywhere else, we'll think you live in a
third world country.
My memory is that the oil embargo was in '73. I was then commuting
between Seguin and San Antonio daily and got stopped once in Schertz
with the new speed limit. I'm perhaps the only person to ever drive
through Schertz without getting a ticket.
Since I saw Mondale campaign after I moved to Penn State, I'm dead
certain that Ford was in office in the embargo. I won't try to change
your politics, I tried with my sister and have given up. But at least
keep it honest.
