IGBT symbol

    First symbol.
    In some place I can see the above symbol of IGBT.

    Second symbol

    In some place I can see the above symbol of IGBT.

    Here is the noticeable thing is that there is not diode symbol in first one on the other hand in the second one there is a Diode symbol present. Could someone please tell me what extra message is conveyed by the second symbol

    My question is why different? And what extra message do the second symbol convey?

    The second symbol shows a diode in parallel with the transistor. This will protect the transistor from reverse voltages and may be advatageous in some kinds of switching circuits.
