Maybe you can help me with these as well Dave ? Trying to find a part # for 272 and 2210 in the picture below. I believe the yellow component is just a small capacitor.
Thanks

yes the yellow ones are capacitors, the rest are resistors

272 = 2700 Ohms = 2k7

2210 not sure probably 2210 Ohms = 2k21
measure it with a multimeter in ohms range :)

2210 would be 221 Ohms would it not? 221 x 10^0

Bob

quite possibly, I went through a bunch of www sites before posting the above and couldn't get confirmation
hence why I finally said ... measure it

Is the 0 on the end = 1% tolerance ?

no not likely
I don't seem to see tolerances applicable to SMD resistors as in the way we did for wired resistors

The 4th digit of a 4 digit code is a multiplier as Bob has suggested
just as the 3rd digit of a 3 digit code is the multiplier

To measure them they can't be on the board correct ? You have to take them off and measure on ohms?

depending on other components around them and your meter you are possibly likely to get a value in the ballpark
that's where you compare the value you see on meter with the value on the resistor and see how realistically close they are

I don't see anything that is obviously faulty on the board, other than some one has been really rough with soldering iron and meter probes

Their was other resistors on there I was trying to figure out. 12RC, 12RO, 272, 120 and 2210

well the last ones were in the original pic you posted in this thread

post the other pic in this thread

12RC = not sure R and C on their own are multipliers, together not sure

12R0 = 12.0 Ohms
272 = as I said up the 2700 Ohms 2k7
120 = 12 Ohms
and
2210 has also been commented on

have you measured them yet as I suggested ?

you will find solder wick is better than one of those plunger type solder suckers
specially on SMD devices.
But for removing the component, you actually need a bit of solder on the ends ... I quickly move the soldering iron tip back and forwards between the 2 ends and then using a wooden tooth pick gently slide the resistor or capacitor etc away from the solder pads
ONCE the component has been removed, THEN use the solder wick to clean the older solder off the pads ready for a component reinstallation

For 4 digit resistors you write the first three digits and the 4th digit is the number of zero's.
So that 2210 is 221 and no added zeros = 221 ohms
