Is there such a thing as an IDC Connector for a SINGLE row of 8 or 16
pins? On the online catalogs I can only find IDC Connectors that join
ribbon cable to double-row pins of 0.1" pitch.

RS Components "2.54/3.96mm Discrete Wire IDT Range"

Go to and search for order code 473-458

    You need the insertion tool.

Try looking at the Amp MTA style connector. They come in various
spacing pitches and for various sizes of descrete wire. A quick way to
find an example and a datasheet would be to search for MTA connectors
    on digikey.
