Hiya!

HOLY COW! I found this comparison of memory prices on the net over time
since 1957:

http://www.jcmit.com/memoryprice.htm

411 MILLION BUCKS for 1 meg of ram!! I'll take 50 pcs :)

Yours, Mark.

RAM in 1957???? Hmmm ..... The H.P. minicomputer (2116?) I worked
with in the early 70's had _core_ memory. All of 8 or 16k, as I recall.

Hiya!

They say it's transistor Flip Flops, which I suppose is basically what
Static ram is today. They seemed to veer off into core memory before
coming back into solid state RAM when the prices dropped.

Yours, Mark.

Very interesting. Ram today contains very little transistors. SDRAM is all
capacitors, with some logic to control refresh, strobing etc. Cache RAM
contains flip flops, hence its high price.
