HP1100 DB2846 21" monitor glitches

  1. Hi all,
this HP 21" monitor runs fine. On initial warm up the picture remains steady
for some minutes. After that, randomly, the picture shows a glitch. This
shows sometimes with a horizontal stretching for a brief moment (then
returns to normal) sometimes the lower half of the screen 'drops' down (and
returns to normal again) and it also just losses the picture for a brief
    moment now and then.
Resolution does not seem to make much difference in the frequency of the
    glitches.
    Neither does refresh rate.
Another symptom is that using the OSD functions to change contrast shows the
normal functionality from 0-30% (roughly) then from 31-70% (roughly) the
screen blinks rapidly while the OSD adjustment is made. From 71-100% the
    functionality is normal again.
Some other OSD functions (not all) also cause the flicker but it stops as
soon as no controls are pressed.

Any repair suggestions are very welcome.
    thanks
    Willem

The D2846 is a Sony N3 chassis, for which the most common failure is
IC007, CXA2043Q, which results in many deflection-related and other
    faults.

  3. Thanks Wayne,
I'll try and find it and see if I can get a replacement for it.

MCM electronics had it for around $30 last time I needed one. It
should be in their online catalog as part number CXA2043Q (must be all
    caps).
