    what is a good site to get started on basic electronics?

    you need to know ohms law first then research specifications or datasheet . most of the people never bother with that but you learn from the masters.

    Your local Community College should be a good place. Also, try to look for the excellent books from the educational systems by Heathkit. They are still available (on eBay) and deal with topics such as dc,ac, semiconductors, amplifiers, electronic circuits, etc. While reading electronics magazines and visiting websites is fun, what you really want is to have a solid foundation and learn electronics the right way. Wiring up your own circuits as you go along helps you understand and to get good at it. As your interest grows, you could buy some test equipment to develop projects. Good luck. Warning: Electronics may be addicting :eek:
