I have a IBM Selectric II typewriter. Everything works on the typewriter, except the right hand margin stop; the bell rings but carriage doesn't stop. I know there has to be something that catches and stops the carriage. What do I need to do to fix the problem? Need step by step instructions on how to repair.

Thank you for your time and cooperation in this matter.

Look for the button/lever that controls the carriage release. Maybe it's stuck in the release position.

Nice try Steve!. I all ready checked the key that controls the margin release. The margin release key works; not stuck. Now, What? I believe it has something to do with the lever that rings the bell on the right margin set, but I can't figure how it is suppose to catch and stop the carriage. Thanks, for your input.
