Hi,
I have a few questions on a house intercom I am fixing. So far it
really doesn't look like a big problem... the hard part is sourcing the
switches that will physically fit. I contacted the mfg. and they were a
tiny bit of help then suddenly they wouldn't give anymore details. So I
just have to hit the parts stores...
But what I am wondering:
1. They used a solid copper wire for connecting each system. At the
connection of each terminal (wire joins the intercom boards with screw
terminals) the wire as turned black and fuzzy. I cut and put stripped
back the wire and it just comes back in a short time (no surprize
But what I am wondering is - should this even be happening ??!!
I mean surely this can't be the right wire to use if it does this.
- did they use the wrong wire? ( what wire should be used then? )
- is it defective in some what?
- could it be wired improperly somehow (i.e. ground problem or
something...)
2. The system does crackle in thunder storms.
- Is this normal?
I mean, if you are listening to AM in a car - it does that too... so
maybe it is no big deal.
