Hi all,

For my own sad interest I have dismantled a little cmos security camera I have to see what it's composed of. I know what most of the components are but i'm not sure what the component in the attached image does. Can anyone shed any light on this? It was sat inside the cameras rectangular casing but facing perpendicular to the sensor and lens pressed against holes in the plastic casing as if its for external sensing of some kind.

Are the PCB's and IC's this camera is made from likely to be widely used for lots of applications or is it all proprietary stuff specific for this manufacturer of cameras? For instance could I buy all the bits like this to make my own camera with similar functionality?

Thanks for help.

best assumption is that it is a WiFi camera and that will be the antenna

the PCB will be specific to that camera module ( the internal module, as in the actual camera) the IC's may possibly be common to a number of camera modules
some parts may be proprietary to that particular camera module

Ah I see, yes that makes sense that it's the antenna. Explains why i couldnt connect when this was disconnected, I should have disconnected things systematically. Thanks for the info!
