    hi
    welcome to EP

BT is designed to me low power and short range, 5 - 10 metres is typical
what range are you getting ?

Have you set the power-level to +6dB? The default is 0dB

I have been through a dozen www sites and none of them state a distance ..... I suspect 100m is garbage and the 14m is more accurate

that's still only 4mW and isn't going to do 100m

Depends on the frequency but a parabola behind the device with the device 'looking' into the parabola will help.
I have had a transmitter on 27MHz using a 2N706 at about 10mA being picked up at several miles, just a quarter wave vertical each end.

    Does
Does that mean the wavelength is about 125mm?
If so a set of 60mm rods set in a parabola with the Tx/Rx at the focus should increase the signal in one direction.

I had the same problem with my BT, the range was very short and the problem turned out to be Bluetooth module was not mounted on PCB as per the specification. If you are using a surface mount module, just make sure you PCB mount is as per the specs.
