Hitachi Widescreen TV - Intermitant Fault

I have a 32" Hitachi widescreen television ( Model C32W511TN )

Around six months ago it started switching itself off for no reason.
The problem has now got worse as somedays when you switch it on the
standby light comes on but the TV doesn't?

If you keep trying to switch it on and off, the standby light always
comes on, but sometimes the TV will not come on at all, and other
times it will start and seems to work OK. Then the next day it will
not come on again?

A friend said the tube was on it's way out but it's not even three
years old. I would have thought if the tube was going it would just
not work at all, not work sometimes and not work othertimes?

The TV hasn't had any damage to it or been dropped etc.

Any suggestions as to the possible problem, and hoepfully remedy (cost
!), would be appreaciated. (please no technical jargon as I am not an
engineer and really have no idea about electrics).

Many thanks

Suggest having a technician have a look at your set to eveluate actually
what is wrong in either the power supply or protect circuits.

I can prove it. And thus I reply:

It may be the power supply or the protection circuits for the internal components.
Better leave it to a technician, as it may (hopefully!) be a simple problem and
not cost much to repair.
