Hello, I'm relatively new to electronics, so please excuse me if this is in the wrong chat.

When my laptop is plugged in, I can hear hissing, beeping and static and such when I wear earphones even if the volume is on mute, though that does quiet it down. Mute will quiet it a little but turning the volume all the way up or all the way down doesn't affect it. All of the noise disappears completely when I unplug the laptop and use the battery. Is there any way I can fix this on my own, cheaply, without voiding my laptop warranty?

If it's under warranty, contact the mfgr with the problem. If phones work ok on battery, but are noisy when computer plugged-in to the wall, you're picking-up noise from the power line, or power supply. You try to 'fix' it yourself, you WILL void warranty.
