Edwards is charging $538.00 CDN plus tax for a smoke card on an Edwards
6500. This is a *single zone* card! "Highway robbery" if you ask me.
There's only about $14.00 in components on the board for Pete's sake.

Unfortunately we do a lot of service on Edwards products for existing
customers. Another example:

$2900.00 CDN for the main board on an ESA 2000. To make matters worse, the
board they shipped was "reconditioned" and one of the earlier releases to
boot... It had a big "spider" in the center (small board about 1.5" square
glued to the middle of the main board with about eight 24 gauge wires
sprouting from it to various locations on the main board). We had to
install it as the customer was under "fire watch" due to the fact that the
old board "cooked off". When I called Edwards to complain they told me
they'd send out another one (which we would also have to buy) and then
return the first one for credit. Royal pain in the butt if you ask me.
When I said: "Oh, sure. We'll back charge you for the service call". They
said they wouldn't pay it and that the "spider" updated the board to the
latest version release and if I wanted to replace it with one that was more
"esthetically pleasing", that was my business.
