Hello all,
Can anyone help please with this little problem I have?
What should the resistance values be across pins 1 & 4 and then pins 2 & 3 on the "plug" of the iron on a Maplin N89CZ 60W soldering station?
I have 2.5 Ohms and 2.8 Ohms respectively, but that sounds just a bit low to me.
Anyone got one of these "gems" they could check for me?
Many thanks,
Dave.

You're probably just reading the coils on the soldering station transformer, which
sound reasonable to me. Are you having a particular problem with the station, or
are you just asking?

Hi shrtrnd, thanks for replying.
No, it's not that, I'm talking about on the iron itself when it's disconnected from the power unit. There's a 4 hole "plug" that connects the iron to the power unit so basically I want to find out what the resistance values are across holes 1 & 4 and also 2 & 3....effectively the iron element and the heat control circuit.
All I'm trying to do is find out if the iron is good....or not. I don't have a N79CZ station to try it on!
Cheers,
Dave.

I can't help, I don't have a Maplin.
My Weller WSD80 reads 23 Ohm, and 11 Ohms.
Maybe you'll hear from somebody that can help.
