Hi,

can I get someone to help me trace out the ignition wiring on a Dodge Dakota
truck. I have the relevant diagram but cannot read it. I have a crazy
intermittent fault and I want to make a hotwire system or circuit.

I can email the proper schematic to anyone that can help.

I know it is the ignition, because when truck stops, it looses spark.
I know it heat related, because if I leave the hood open for half hour, it
will run.
It also starts to get a weak spark after about 15 minutes

I checked spark by pulling the coil wire and holding to the chassis.

I have all new distributor, rotor, coil, wiring etc.

I don't think it is the pickup because that would not give weak spark???
would it.

I think their is a junction in the wiring harness that has some moisture or
weak connection that opens when hot.

it is definitely spark and definitely heat related.

Try the alt.autos.dodge newsgroup. I had a similar problem with my '95
Dakota
last spring when it suddenly refused to start, even though it cranked
all
right. The mechanic found a corroded connector on the back of a module.

I have posted in every group to do with dodge trucks and this is just beyond
most people in the groups. I guess I need to learn symbols and work my way
thru it.

I will post the wiring diagram on my companies website today.

http://www.starpath-designs.com

I had it happen again yesterday in the middle of Ocala at lunch hour, lifted
the hood, let it cool for 20 minutes and made it to Sams where I shopped for
an hour....left hood up.

then drove 20 miles home okay.

Do you have the factory service manual diagrams? They have a
listing/explanation of all the symbols used (some of them quite strange)
at the front of the wiring diagram pages.

Automotive wiring diagrams can be a pain to read. They never seem as
standardized as electronic schematics or industrial ladder diagrams.
