Hello!
A couple of weeks ago I decided to build my own microphone to use for Discord and Streaming etc. There is a Youtube Video by DIYperks in which he goes through the full process. So far I managed to order and take care of most of the things myself. As note I don't have much know how about electronic Engineering or circuit layouts etc.

Now my problem is the following: I need 3 types of resistors for the pre amp. Searching for those showed me really fast the amount of choices I have to make. My first question is now how do I know which one would to its job and which is a risk for the circuit. (I will leave links and files down below to make it more clear)

While asking the same question on reddit, a member said that there is a flaw in the layout design which could cause problems later on. Me again having not the knowledge doesn't know what to do now. Should I use the existing layout or somehow make a new one?

I would really appreciate help since I love working on this project and really want to finish it to my satisfaction and of course show some results!

The resistors in your schematic have values, 6M, 500 Ohm, 4.5k Ohm & 12K Ohm.
Can you be more specific on the problem you have selecting resistors?
.
The referenced comment about a flaw: If that's the lack of bias on the FET, it's a point and depends on what hat microphone looks like.

the upper layout is the suggested one and the lower one is the one used in Video and schematic. I mean which values I need I know but I saw there is also tolerances etc. and that's what throws me of. Could you explain FET more?

Like I said, sadly I don't have much Knowledge about all of that. I would so far just blindly follow the videos description and hope for the best but the Reddit comment made me worried about it not working after all.

Anybody can post a video of a circuit on You Tube then many of the video circuits have serious design errors.
Of course the added Jfet needed a gate resistor to ground.

The circuit will not work because it is completely wrong for both mic cartridges shown:
1) The 100S cartridge shown in the video is a Condensor mic that needs a high voltage on it. The circuit powers it with 0V.
2) The JLI2555 cartridge shown on the schematic is an electret mic that already has a Jfet inside it that must be powered. The circuit powers it with 0V and the added Jfet is not needed.

Okay that sounds like I need to change some things. Do you buy any chance know what I now need to do?

You need to buy a mic and a preamp that is matched to it.

How is this going if you are still working on this?
