Hi,

I have dehydrator that stopped working. I took it apart and took a picture of what I think the problem is. It is what looks like a diode to me, but I am not sure. It connects from the dial that sets temp to the heating element. I metered it, and it didn't give me readings that I could use, it just showed open. Which is why I think it is bad. Attached is a picture of the dehydrator, the questionable electronic piece and where I got from. I would like to know what it is and where I can get one. I also cannot read the text on the piece.

PS I know the dehydrator is old, but it was my wife's moms. She likes that one...

It is a thermal fuse.
The rating at which it blows in degrees should be stamped on the casing.
A good fuse will be indicated by closed circuit i.e. near to zero ohms.
The new fuse when obtained should have the leads crimped into the circuit as soldering will more than likely blow your new device.
Might be a good idea to check you have no obstructions to the airflow which can be the cause of the failure in the first instance.
