Hi all
i am very new to electronics and want to start with something basic.
I was looking to rig a landing light on my 9ft span radio control aircraft model.
i have a good selection of led lamps but have no idea what voltage they require so
i initially rigged 3 bright white leds in parallel and progressively increased voltage to test the lamps. at 3.6v i got a dim light but at 4.8v (my chosen power source) i got a nice bright light. I am aware that i need to add some sort of resistor to prevent the lamps failing but am unsure what type/spec resistor is required and how lamps being in parallel will affect resistor operation ?
either that or if someone can suggest the components to purchase in order to get a bright lamp visable in daylight from a distance working from 4.8v nicad/nimh battery pack

any help greatly appreciated
regards

Never test led in parallel why ?you put a 1.8 v and a 3.2v the first light up at that voltage proceed to blow up and the next will light up,
to test a led you will need two aaa battery in series a limiting resistor like 75 ohms to limit the current or 100 ohm.
