I took a picture of the problem with this monitor. There's a small one
(with some jpg artifacts) here:
http://www.aberrant.org/~aarons/img_1860_small.jpg
and a big 1.1Mb original here:
http://www.aberrant.org/~aarons/img_1860.jpg

As you can see, the image is both wavy and double. Additionally there are
some significant geometry problems such as the image being tilted
clockwise by about 10 degrees, and shifted to the left by a good inch or
two.

I replaced some capacitors on the A Board (this is a sony gdm-20d10) based
on a message I read suggesting that C13,14,15,24, and 71 are likely
culprits. Since I don't have an ESR meter, I just replaced them all.
Unfortunately that didn't seem to make any difference.

I'm hoping someone out there has developed the ability to just look at a
monitor and know what the problem is. Any pointers would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Some time ago I posted the location of a capacitor that caused similar
problems. I cannot remember the location now, but do a Google Search. The
monitor I was working on was the Sun branded variant of the same chassis.
