Good day.

Does anyone know what this component is ?

I found this in a desktop pc PSU attached somewhere at the input section and it has no markings on it.

It is composed of two coils in series. I suspect that it is some kind of filter.

Thanks.

Yes, it's a big choke aka inductor. Could be used for inrush current limiting and/or filtering of incoming and/or outgoing interference. Can be sold for its copper content. Makes a good weapon if swung around above the head then released.

Sorry to hear that.

Not only you respond fast but also your responses are always "well aimed" and bare weight for me.

hey Kris ...

seeing the brown and blue wires coming out of the other side of that inductor
I was wondering if it was a mains stepdown transformer ??

If it had any other connections or wires, yes, but from re-reading the first post, I don't think it does.

A stepdown transformes should have two sets of wires right ?

To be completely honest i havent tested to see if the two coils are inline but judging from the looks...
