Hello! I am trying to fix a buzzer system for my school's quiz show club. The issue is that the power for the hub is not working. When I plug the power chord from the wall outlet into the main hub, the plug (connected to the hub) sparks. Sometimes the indicator light on the hub goes on, showing that it has power, but then it almost immediately fades. I greatly appreciate any help that anyone can offer, as we don't want to have to buy a new system. :)

The power supply can not provide sufficient current so the voltage sags.

The problem may be in the power supply or the load. Look at the rating on the power supply and use a resistor to load it close to the rating, see if it can maintain voltage.

The spark indicates that there is a large capacitor in the load, this may be faulty.

You could try an alternative supply, if you do, make sure the polarity is correct.

It looks like it has the option to be powered from batteries.

Does it work if you use batteries?
