Ok, so, I got a pair of Cloud X Hyper X headphones without warranty in an event. Sound only comes from one side and not the other, and the volume control wheel doesn't have an "ending" stop, so it can spin forever in one direction. At some point during spinning the volume stops entirely on the side it worked on and starts working on the other side. The same on all devices, so I'm assuming it's in the area of the wheel itself.

Welcome to EP.
Sounds like a bad connection or worn-out tracks inside the control. If the control has at some time been forced past an end stop then the wiper(s) could have been bent. Any chance of opening up the control to check inside?

Looks like a small board with a cheap pot on it to us... What Alec was saying is ..."can you take the pot apart to see if it's broken?"...

What you are describing is the balance pot, not volume control.
