Harman Stove Diagnostic

Would anybody have information on the diagnostic tool for the Harman stoves?

Factory won't deal with stove owners and dealer is being unresponsive
(probably wants to bill for a house-call). Diagnostic tool is a dealer only
item. I'd like to build one if any of the details are available. Haven't
been able yet to turn up any details through the net or any of the stove
forums.

I have the Accentra fireplace insert pellet stove. Works petty nicely most
of the time. Occasionally gets into some strange operating modes though.

Thanks - Oppie

I would also be interested in this.
What we really need is a specification for the communications protocol, which is likely some sort of serial protocol. If it is RS232 or RS422, the "tool" could be as simple as a cable to a serial port (or USB serial adapter), and some software.

This is kind of like the issue with proprietary diagnostics systems on cars that are making harder, with each passing year, for car owners and independent service shops to work on them. It is all about driving people to the dealer for service so the mfg. can make more money.

I'm sure that unless you can find someone within Harman to leak the info, or can get a hold of a tool, and then monitor the communications with a protocol analyzer, it'll be impossible to do.

I'm certainly willing to help. I hate having to pay for service calls for diagnostics that I could certainly do myself.

Regards,
Jay
