    Hi guys,
I have been checking out some gsm/gprs modules to interface with a pic micro but am little confused about what will work.
Most of the modules are quad band (850,900,1800,1900) which are all gsm (2g). Gprs is 3g correct? Frequencies are 850 and 2100 in aus for 3g. I need 3g module as 2g is going. Will these quad band gsm/gprs modules work here with 3g as they claim?

GPRS stands for General Packet Radio System. It defines the Modulation Technique used for transmitting Data. It will work up to the 2G (2nd Generation) system.
The Modulation Techniques used in 3G is different - it caters to a much higher data transfer rates.
Even though 3G includes the lower 850 MHz GSM band, it is (afaik) used only at 2100 MHz.
