GO Video DVD player update

I posted asking about the new defective go video dvd players . These had
a 02 date on them .

I collected 5 of these 2 still new in box none would read any disks .
I got one working by turnin up the trimmer on the lazer assembly .
I then removed the lazer assembly from the other 4 players & tried them
in the working player ... all 4 failed till i turned up the trimmer ..
one totaly failed 3 worked .

I then took the remaining 4 players and tried a working lazer in them
and all 4 players failed .
I checked ( ESR ) capacitors in the power supplys and found over half of
them a tiny bit low on the tester . 2 of the capacitors run very hot no
mater if they are new ones instaled .

What did you expect for a DVD player that sells for between $30 and $60? -

These are of bad design. I would scrap the complete idea of handling or
even servicing these. Your players are having failing lasers, if you had to
turn up the laser gain to fix them. The laser failure rate will be higher
with more bias current. The ones that are working will soon be back if this
is the case.
