How does the Intellisense FG 730 stand up with respect to nuisance
alarms and overall performance. I need to replace a couple of DSC
units that have become unreliable. If not the FG 730, what do you
recommend?

Thanks.

respect to nuisance alarms and overall performance.

become unreliable. If not the FG 730, what do you
recommend?

I've installed hundreds of FG-730 glass breaks. For years they were part of
almost every installation. They are as reliable a glassbreak as I've found
and I've tried many others. Thunder can sometimes set them off, especially
if it's very near but storms that close can set off almost anything, even
magnetic sensor loops.

Like most other acoustic glass break detectors, they can also be triggered
by household activity. I usually program them as "interior follower" zones
if are in the path from the entrance delay door to the keypad. Consider
doing the same thing if you use them in the garage. That way the clanking
of the garage door won't set them off.

IntelliSense (Honeywell) has several updated models since the FG-730. The
FG-1625RFM is a recessed, flush mount glass break detector. It performs
similarly to the rectangular, surface mount versions but it is nearly
invisible. The FG-1625RFM is inserted in a hole in the sheetrock. Only a
slender disk a little larger than a silver dollar is seen.

Here's a link (my website) to more information on glass break detectors. I
sell several brands online but IntelliSense is definitely my favorite.

I use IEI 550LS's great detector, great coverage.
I've never had an unexplained false alarm and
only 2 have died over the years.

I used IEI glass breaks many years ago but several of them failed in
service. We had such bad results with them that I stopped using glass
breaks at all for a while. Admittedly, that was a long time ago and IEI may
be making better quality detectors by now.

They're excellent detectors. I've never had one false (even in a commercial
kitchen). You need the proper tester and you *do* need to properly set them
up.

All of your experience has been "a long time ago".

IEI glass breaks are garbage. I did run into some Tane contacts the other
day on an installation that was twelve years old and they still worked!! We
switched them with GRI's because I don't want callbacks.
