GE TV 13GP241/ TX826TB Cycling Problem

I have a GE TV model 13GP241 with a TX826TB chassis
The problem I am having is when the set powers up, after 2 or 3 seconds
it starts cycling on & off continiously.

I have no schematics for this set & its not really a cost effective
repair if I have to spend hours trouble shooting to find the problem.

I have soldered alot of cold solder joints I spotted but that made no
diference.
Does any one have any ideas on what is causing this or what I should
check ?

Thanks in advance, Roger

Check TP 15 transistor, P # 185197, or bad connection & diode in PWM
power supply. I foget which location.

TP 15 tested ok, I will replace some diodes in power supply, & see,

Also it appears this chassis uses an all in one TV IC to control most
of the functions

any Idea on a part # or sub for this IC ?,
I have read that my problem is one of the symptoms when this IC goes
down.

The number on the part is: ST6497B1/FBS
I can not find it listed with any of my suppliers or find a cross
anywhere.

Do a google search on the TX825/TX826. You will probably find the
solution to your problem. It was highly discussed on this NG.
It is unlikely that you have an IC problem. Even if TP15 checked O.K.
you will still have to change it. It's a common fault with this chassis.
