Does this gaget exist?

A rftag and pocket sized transmitter set.

Put the trasmitter in you coat pocket and the rf tag in your wallet.
If the wallet is further away than, say 10 feet, the transmitter
sounds an alarm.

I like it, but make the range five feet. That way there is less chance
he'll out run you!

Well, it was my son who inspired me. He's on his 4th wallet; having
lost
the other 3.

RFID has very limited ranges especially portable devices. 10 feet
will be too much for anything you are likely to carry around.

There is a baby monitor device that consists of a little transmitter
that goes on the kid and receiver you keep with you - when the signal
strength drops, as the kid wanders off, the alarm sounds.

I haven't heard of an RF tag for your wallet either, but I need one for my
wallet and everything else I own. Where can I buy one :).

I like the scenario. Here is another idea. I'd like an RF tag between my
floor, to my desk, and then from my desk to my computer until I move the
desk, and then from the computer to the mouse, and also from my computer to
my keyboard.

For the wallet. I'd like an alarm to sound if I forget my credit card, or
the cashier forgets to hand it back... maybe have a 2 to 5 minute delay.

I have been looking for a proximity sensor alarm for a wallet, a cell phone, etc., where merely separating the wallet and person (for example, a wallet falls out of one's pocket and the person walks away) causes an alarm to sound.

... I don't think such a product exists, unfortunately ... has anyone ever seen a distance-based alarm which is small enough to fit in a wallet?

I agree - five feet would be the ideal range.
