I installed an automatic vent damper on my 45 year old furnace yesterday
like this one in the link.

Wow what a differance. I knew that alot of air was being sucked up my
vent when the furnace was off. The wind allways blows here and causes a
venturie effect along with hot air risng there was alot of heated air
going up the flue. 2 years ago I installed a 5 inch combustion air
intake near the furnace to make up for the negative pressure. Good for
saftey reasons but trouble was it just made the air flow up the flue
more of a problem. Any ways its been plus six celcius since midnight
last night and I have been waiting and waiting and waiting for the
furnace to kick in lol so I can monitor the heat anticopater settings on
my T-stat because the series hook up added point six. What I am not sure
about is do those digital control thermostats care what the voltage draw
is as far as the anticopater goes? When I installed the t-stat 2 years
ago the anticopater setting's were a little hard to do I just
expermented untill I found a setting that was comfortable.....will that
change since the draw of the damper has added to the circuit in paralell
with the gas valve (me thinks that the digital stats dont care)

Also I am now looking for a hot water tank vent damper because the pull
of air at the hot water tank went way up after the furnace cylces
off.....I expected that.......I am just worried about too much draft at
the the tank making it less efficiant. The furnace has a six inch going
into a six inch b-vent the hot water tank has a three inch teed into
that. Screw it maybe I should just go out now and by my dream tankless
and cap off the vent ha ha.

You could post it here as it is related. It just may not be what most of the

You mean like alt.hvac and alt.hvac.design ? Of course if you just typed in
HVAC in your newsgroup search you would have found those.
