Free C Compiler with Renesas H8???

Discussion in 'Electronic Design' started by The real Andy, Sep 8, 2003.

  1. Well this parts fits the criteria perfectly. Still waiting on a local
distributor or rep to call me. They are also holding a design comp, sweet, i
could earn a few extra bucks here on top of my royalties (i wish).

T'is an evil sight, i seem to have applied for a dev kit for the competition
that may or may not come with a free c/c++ compiler. The low power dev kit
is pretty much half of my design completed, just got to add the analogue
interface. You know, I just cant work this site out. I really like the smell
    of these beasts, hmmmm..

SOOOO, can anyone tell me if these dev tools for the H8 are free? Also, are
    these parts reasonably priced??

    Many TAI:

Are you talking about the Hitachi H8 processors? If yes, look for the
    H8 GCC compiler (hitachi-hms).

  3. Nearly, i'm talking about teh new (april 03) Renesas H8,
    http://www.renesas.com/eng/

It seems Renesas is a combination Hitachi and Mitsubishi...

  4. Andy,
Take a look at www.circuitcellar.com and sign up for the design
contest. You will get a free eval board of your choice, plus a set of
    tools to work with it.

Looks like the evals typically are either time or size limited, but the
contest boards will license through Jan 31, 2004.
