Does anyone have the formula for doing a solar plan/plot? I'm talking about
the diagram that plots the suns angle for the different seasons. I know
there are pre-calculated ones for varying latitudes, but I'd like to try
    doing one myself :)

Yes. What type do you want. Proper polar chart or common MS chart.

A proper polar one, please. Many Thanks!

Right. To produce a polar chart you will need some software. I use
"DeltaGraph". It is a graphing program and draws these charts very well.

I think you can still download a trial version from their site.

Can send you a sample if you wish.

There is also a web site that will draw these charts for you. Or so I
    have heard.

If you wish to pursue the drawing if polar charts with such software I
can send an outline of how I did it.

I produced a set of charts for the whole of Australia in 1/2 degree
    increments.

I've retrieved the software, so knowing how to do the calculations would
    be appreciated.

    OK.

    How are your spreadsheet skills?

Nasa meteorology page for data. You want the "Azimuth" and "Altitude"
data for your latitude. Also the times and the dates. If you like I can
send you a chart and sample of spreadsheet.

The dates are: June 21, May 26, April 14, March 21, Feb 26, Jan 16, Dec
    22

You need the "Azimuth" and "Altitude" for each hour from sunup to
sundown for each date. I used 6 AM to 6 PM.

Then you will have endless hours of fun fine tuning the specs for the
chart to make it look right.

This is a time consuming past time. But then every one should have a
    hobby.

I've been using spreadsheets for a while now (since SuperCalc), so that
    isn't a problem.

Thanks for the pointer; it looks like I'll have something to keep myself
amused for the next little while :)

Yeah. I spent around three months (part time) doing the set for OZ.
