Flo- Scan Questions

I have a 2002 225 Merc EFI and want to hook up a FLO Scan (Series 5500)
or other Fuel Computer, like the Standard Horizion Fuel Flow meter or
the NavMan Fuel Flow meter.

On the FLOScan, I see the on the gauge it shows gallons, how does it
know , if say , you have 75 gal in the tank and add 45 more gallons. Is
there and way to adjust this? Same question for the Standard Horizion
and NAvMan.

They all show the GPH but im curious how the gauge knows how much fuel
is in a half full tank. Or do you just need to start with a full tank

On the FLOScan I gues I would need the 0-32 GPH. Anyone have a 225 Merc
EFI with some GPH numbers and rpm.

Thanks

I had a Flo-Scan on a previous boat. It didn't know how large the
tank was, and didn't need to, as the "odometer" was a "Fuel Used"
counter, not a "Fuel Remaining". There was a button to reset the
counter to zero, which I did every time I filled up.

My Floscan reads total gallons used since reset. When I fill up, I
reset the gallons to zero.

I don't keep the tank full on my Parker. No need to carry around 170
gallons. I fill it to about 100 gallons, and save close to 500 pounds...

That's nice for you. Doesn't apply to my use:)

Thanks for the input. Is the extra 100 or so dollars worth the Floscan
verse the Horizion or Navman, looks like they all do the same thing. I
do have a hole in my dash the Floscan would fit in :)

I run my boat the same way Harry, unless im heading way off shore or the
price of gas drops alot.

I have the cheaper Standard Horizon on my Parker. It knows how much fuel
is in the tank because you tell it. My Parker holds 170 gallons, or so
the factory says. If I fill it up, I set the gauge to 170 total.

Standard Horizon has downloadable manuals on line.

The flowmeter option on the Navman 5500 GPS requires fule top-up to be
entered to provide the fuel remaining display. Don't know about the rest,
but should be no different.
