haha .. our tinkerer will soon learn that electronics run on smoke and not electrons,
cuz once the smoke is let out things stop working


To the OP, you cannot wire a diode directly across a power supply forward biased, you have basically put a short circuit across the battery.
The diode is going to conduct at full current that is capable from the PSU and is going to expire in a flash.
