Had a fan in the PC drop dead yesterday, of course it was the one
dedicated to PSpice :-(
It was a "chipset fan" on an ASUS A7M266 MB.
Can't find a duplicate anywhere... perusing via Google I find it's a
loser by design.
So I spent all yesterday afternoon filing a heat sink adapter to
proper shape.
Installed a good sturdy ball-bearing fan.
Fired the PC up, everything looked OK.
As I was about to button it up the exhaust fan in the back quit.
Fooling with it revealed intermittent leads where the wires entered
the motor housing.
Another trip to Fry's.
Got everything on the air at 7:00AM this morning.
What a day ;-)
