They're certainly no bargains.

I'm not saying that the prices are too far out of line, but you'll be lucky
to get even one or two bids with starting prices that high.

Just my $0.02

I thought it curious that the SG504 didn't mention the leveling head.
An email confirmed that it's NOT included.
I find that a conflict with "works perfectly" and "recent calibration".

Without the head, it's a doorstop.

I have a head, but the price is already way too high for me.

Thanks for the observations, Norm. You're not still sore about the
music on my website, are you?

Every item I auctioned that day WAS sold.

Most only had one bid. But that's all I was after.

With a one-day auction, a low starting bid is not practical.

The starting prices were lower than the equipment usually sells for. I
know this market and priced everything so that it would sell in one
day. (I just needed some quick cash.)

Not what I'd call bargains, either. But good, fair prices, for good
equipment, all inspected, tested, and working. (I'd have to say that
the buyers are maybe a little happier about it than I am.)

Thanks again, Norm.

Mike,

It's pretty common, on ebay, to sell "incomplete" items. Everyone
there knows that only what is pictured is included.

Also, as we discussed in our emails, I assumed that anyone interested
in buying an SG504 would already know about the use of the leveling
head. And, as you know, I did then contact the buyer and offered to
let him out of the auction, if he hadn't realized that a leveling head
was needed for full functionality.

The buyer happened to be a VERY-well-known author of a VERY popular
electronics textbook, who DID already know about the leveling head,
but thought that the price was still a bargain.
