what distances are you talking about?

what range do you get now?

is the receiver or transmitter inside a building?

what sort of antenna does the receiver at the generator have?

do you still want the transmitter to be pocketable? Or even portable?

Why would you need a remote control for a generator?

ok, one simple thing to try is to connect a longer antenna to the remote.

unscrew the antenna and connect a length of wire (a meter or so is fine). Make sure it points at 90 degrees to the generator (I.e. Not at it).

see if this improves the range. Do not hold the antenna while testing it.
