Does anyone have experience with evacuated tube solar collectors? I am
infatuated with the concept and it appears like the technology is quite
mature. Probably best suited to hot water generation however.

they work well they had them installed in the new technology building at
the Plymouth College Of Further Education while I was there and since that
they have added a wind turbine and solar pannels. I have also seen them used
ion "It's Not Easy Being Green" they are where they were successful.

The ones at the college were made a point of by my tutor as i was on a
microcomputer corse and energy sources were part of that. They were only
being used as a source of heat in the building but if you makaged to get
hold of a stirling engine (full size engins i have found to be hard to
locate but I have herd that they are available) then you could use the heat
to power the engin and that in turn could run a geneator.
