Etching solution/pre sensitised board query

Hi all


I bought some pre sensitised board to try out recently and the datasheet mentions the use of ferric chloride as the etching solution. Seems the same for all brands/types I looked at and can't find any info regarding the use of other etch mediums as I use Copper (II) Chloride.

Is this just because ferric is a more popular/common etching medium, or does anyone know if others can be used with it successfully?

It is almost 100% certain that you can use any of the other popular etchants.

However it is always worth a test. Expose a small piece, develop, etc., and etch it.
