Hi I am into astronomy and have a 12" dobsonian telescope.

The base is circular and runs on bearings to rotate in 360 degrees.

It would be a great help in locating objects if i could build a very cheap encoder which could give me the position on a 360 degree scale.

    something like this

or even with an optical reader with a printed encoder strip.

First thing anyone want price me for doing this?

Second is it fairly straight forward what would be the parts required?

    Cheers

    Johnny

Our member Coca Cola might be interested but be prepared for honest professional engineering rates.
