Electric IBM Typewriter

I have an IBM selectric typewriter ( model72). The motor will not respond when the power switch is turned on unless I manually move what I think is the clutch assembly. Can anyone suggest what is going on and what I can do about it?

I've seen posts on the IBM Selectrics on ElectronicsPoint for years.
You might try an archive search here, and see some of the problems people have talked about here.
Finding people who still repair these units is usually very expensive. But so many of them have been
obsoleted by computer keyboards, that there are wealth of parts around if you can correctly identify the
faulty one.
