I have a plan to add an electric motor to my tadpole recumbant trike -
anyone know of a site of someone who has already done it?

Thanks, R

I presume you mean a cordless drill. If so I've heard it mentioned but
haven't seen a successful one. There is/was a web site outlining the
use of a circular saw (120v) which appeared to work ok on DC. My
suggestion would be to use a old electric wheel chair motor and
gearbox. They are a bit heavy but are made for the job. I buy mine
from Astec Equipment Services

An electric drill motor will not be nearly durable or powerful enough. You
need a much larger, better quality motor.

I was looking in a motorbike mag, I think is was OZ Bike and it had these
guys who have made choppers out of old BMX bikes and whippersnipper motors,
and they look great - not that I want a chopper, but Im still looking into
the Drill/Wheelchair motor ideas...

Thanks Tim too for the personal reply, I sent a reply back (private) -
thanks!

Oatley electronics were selling the motor assembly for an electric
scooter recently - this may be suitable for your needs ?
