Hey so I've got some EL Wire and it came with a power supply that reacts to sound, so the EL Wire lights up when it picks up sound.
Anyway I was wondering how i could change it so I could actually input sound into it rather than the microphone picking it up.
Can I literally just take the microphone out and install a input jack?

yup you probably can, just remember that any other sound source eg a mp3 type player will have substantially higher level than that from a microphone and will need to be kept at a much lower level.
to be safe you will probably need some fixed attenuation on the input to the EL wire circuitry so that it doesnt get overdriven even if the mp3 player etc is accidentially turned to full volume

    cheers
    Dave
