LG's probably as good as any. How do you judge a good washing washine btw ? Oh
you mean power consumption. I'd judge it by reliability and how well it washes.

considering the outside humidity (RH) is at 87% with rain every day, a rope would
underperform...

Electric heating elements don't have relative efficiencies to any
significant extent. Basically, all the energy goes to the heat that dries
the clothes. The best way to use an electric dryer efficiently is to use
more air and less heat. A diverter valve on the exhaust vent can give you
some free heat and humidity in your house if you want it in the winter.

There was someone who came up with a more efficient electric dryer a few
years back - used a dehumidifier to get considerably more efficient
drying. Don't know if they made it or went under.

I've good my clothes on lines in the basement with a dehumidifier
running ;~)
