What types of pc based dvr cards do you guys reccomend?

I heard ADT is using some sort of budget zeroone card and selling systems
    for $6000 4 cameras.

    Any thoughts?

ADT sells DVR's from American Dynamics, Pelco, Bosch, GE, Integral,
etc. We don't sell DVR cards. Nice try.

Who you gonna trust... GE, Bosch, Pelco or some crap you've never
    heard of?

Bosch makes both PC based and embedded systems. The Divar 2 is one of
the best DVR's for the money on the market. GE bought Kalatel and has
stamped their name on the DVMRe and the SDVR recorders. The products
by Pelco and AD are much more than just a "DVR card." You get the
expertise and experience of over a million installations, a real
warranty, and hundreds of authorized integrators to make it all work.

If you want a science project, buy a $100 PC card on eBay and stick it
in a $200 PC. If you want real security, look at what airports,
casinos, and federal government installations use.

You can't be serious. There are a number of great DVR upstarts out there who
stand behind their, IMO superior, products. It's silly to limit selection to
three or four mega-corp units. The three you named may have some good
products, but they are not the end all be all. Yeah, I know, ADT loves 'em.
    Spare me.

Oh, and I don't "trust" GE, Bosch, Pelco, or any of the rest as far as I can
    throw them.

Airports and casino's still use vcr's. We just bid on a contract at LAX to
upgrade their dilapidated systems. GE, ADT, Integral, Pelco systems are way
over priced, they can do that because they are large companies but their
systems, most of them are missing key features like frame rate, High
definition, live monitoring. All of those systems are Korean made and they
buy them for around $1000.00 for a 16 channel card and sell them for
$6000.00. Nasa is one of the first government agencies to use DVR's. The US
Border patrol went digital and use I think Integral's system well it does
    not work
We bid on that one too.

I find the best way to learn things is to experience them. If you're using
anything with an OS, then you have little to no experience with real DVR's
in the real world. There's more to this business that buying a unit based on
cost and plopping it on a desk somewhere. I'm betting, like the rest of the
Industry has to offer, only about 3% ever even gets installed, or used

Hang in there J. Everybody has their place.....

Its really a matter of horses for courses, the local gas station or liquor
store probably doesn't need a $8000 DVR, and LAX or JFK Intl are probably
going to want a little more than a Celeron box with a $100 counterfeit
    Geovision card wedged inside it

As to reliability, I've had about the same failure rate with the hard drives
in name brand embedded units as I've had in lower priced PC based systems,
the difference being you have to ship the name brands back for repair, the
PC based machine you can replace the hard drive in one service call

ADT is using cards in "celeron" pcs in BC made by a company called zero-one.
Seen it. Poor gui software, and 40 fps on all 4 channels per card, system
    goes for 6,000.

So according to what happen with this "A" typical Government installation, a
16 channel DVR from you would have fixed it? That's a good sales
approach....until you speak to someone intelligent, or worse experienced.
You really need to learn more about your competition, and broaden your views
past the fancy GUI. Your starting to sound more and more like a Honeywell

When you've been in the business as long as I have, when you lose
multi-million dollar contracts because of "political contributions",when
you have personally tested and consulted on almost every DVR on the market,
I have the right to say "I told you so". It is called experience. I have it,
they don't. Homeland Security blew it. They know that now. The government
always over spends. I know my competition and my own product, the
    competition does not.

Oh shit! Another Industry idiot with millions of years of experience...blah,
    blah, blah.
There's an old saying where I'm from "never listen to an intelligent person
and an idiot argue....sooner or later they both sound like idiots"
I'm going to be the intelligent one here, and end this even before it
Keep peddling your crap though, un-be-none to you, guys like you are my best
salesman, and a great asset for those of us who do this professionally for a
Sounds like the Government even figured you out....what a shocker?

Are you pissed because you did not get a government contract like I did? Or
the LAX one, or that Big Egyptian government contract, didn't know about
that one did you? I bet you use Geovision don't you. Or is it the one that
failed to work for the border patrol. Is that why you're pissed.
