Hello everyone, I have just aquired a dvd writer and am able to
play dvds perfectly as i have a scart lead going from the DVD straight
into the back of the TV. However, when i try to use the dvd player to
view my television channels or SKY channels(so i could record
programs), i can see the pictures but i have no sound at all.
To try to fix this i have a normal arial cable from the satalite
receiver to the dvd player and then from there going in to the rf
connector on the screen. Is this setup correct or should i be
connecting in a differnet way?
Many thanks for any help given

A few things to check:
Make sure that the sound setup in your unit is not set to the SAP mode.
Also, check in case it is the mute mode, or set to an output mode that you
are not using. Some players have a digital output mode. When this feature is
turned on, the main analog outputs do not function.

If all the above comply and you still have no sound, it is possible that a
component(s) in the sound decoder section of the player have failed.

Hi John...

From your description, not quite sure what you have
there, and for sure what it is that you're doing.
Don't know if it's a dvd writer as in TV type; sit under
or beside the tv, or whether you've installed a dvd
burner into your computer.

If it's the latter, and you're using a computer type
TV tuner such as the ati all in wonder cards, then
you'll have to install an audio cable between the
output connector of the video card to the audio
input of your sound card. Should have come with the
video card.

Let me know if you need more info on this type.
