DVD/VCR combo problem

Hi all,
I have a Samsung DVD-V1000 DVD/VCR combo with a problem. Using both the
RF-out and the line-out, I get a picture that is barely visible and very
squiggly. Almost looks like the worst case of Macrovision I have ever seen
(but it doesn't brighten and darken). Picture looks the same for tapes or
DVD, I checked for blown caps and reset all the cables. Mechanically it
seems fine, and is very clean inside.
Any thoughts?
Thanks a bunch,
-Mac

Simply trace the video signal from the rf modulator/video output jack back
to where the switch is located that selects either the DVD player or the VCR
player using your o'scope.

David,
Sorry but your suggestion is a bit beyond my capabilities. I have
mechanical prowess, a multimeter, and common sense: but no scope.
I guess I was hoping for a common problem/solution.
Thanks,

Unfortunately, this does sound like your DVD/VCR combo requires circuit level
work. Another possibility is that such repair is not worth it for this
particular item.

When considering a replacement, buy a separate DVD player and VCR.

For DVD players, I recommend only Sony, Panasonic, Pioneer, and JVC. -

That's good advice. I told a friend that I would look at this unit but that
next time he should buy a Sony. I've had mine for two years and (knock on
wood) not a single problem.
Thanks for the info folks, it is appreciated.
