I have a Samsung DVD/Home Theater system that just goes blank after 15 minutes or so. I was packing it up and heard a rattle from the case. I finally took the case lid off and saw a row of grey cylinders with 1510A stamped on the tops lined up on a circuit board. One of the grey cylinders had lost it's "cover" and exposed copper wire wound around a core (maybe 3/8" diameter and 3/4" tall). I assume this is an inductor (I'm not an electronics guy!). I put the cover back on and plugged it in and it's playing now, but I'm not sure if this is really a fix.
I couldn't tell if they were soldered or plugged into the board, but I'm betting they are soldered in so getting it our to replace it would require that I disassemble the whole thing.
Is the cover some kind of heat sink? Could I just glue it back in place?
Any thoughts?
