I hoping someone can help me on programming this keypad. I just
replaced my LCD-5501z keypad with the alpha numeric LCD-5500Z keypad
on a DSC PC-1555 system. Everything went well with the change and
everything seem to be working. The only thing I'm have a problem is
with enabling the fire enable and panic enable keys on the keypad.
When I press both keys for over two seconds, nothing happened, this
was functioning with my old keypad. I've look thru the install manual
for the PC-1555. In appendix B, its the section for programming LCD
keypad, I tried to follow along but it doesn't match up. There a
[64]key option for Fire keys enable and Panic key enabled. I tried
the following sequence:
* 8 {installer code}
064
When I put it 064, it beep as a invalid code. I'm I doing something
wrong???
I would appreciate any help, I've tried everything..

Doug,
Thank you very much for you response, it worked with code 074. Is
there some code to enter to determine which version software I have
installed on the LCD-5500Z keyboard. Also Bob Bass website had several
installation manual for the DSC PC-1555 alarm system, based on US UL
certified and the software version number, should I be looking for
something on the system to match with the installation manual. I'm
going to install a few smoke detector with my system and not sure if I
will need a two or four wire type.

Thanks in Advance

To enter LCD keypad programming you need to enter the following sequence
* 8 {installer code} then the * key again
and then the location for key options, you also need to verify what version
keypad you have since the programming locations are different, if you have a
version 2 or lower then the location is 64, if its a version 3 or higher the
location is 074

064 on a version 3. keypad is a zone label location

When you power the system up the 5500 keypad should briefly display its version
number

Yes it does, but I never can get from the control panel in the closet to the
keypad at the front door quickly enough to see it.

I've seen those panels do strange things ranging from arming the 2nd
partition of an 832 when the 2nd partition wasn't enabled and I've seen
keypads go bad.

I had visions of you running many many times between panel and keypad before
figuring that one out :)

I finally just rigged up a series of mirrors, but then it was backwards.
