I have used the DSC windows software to program the keypad buttons, to stay,
away, chime, reset, and exit. These work fine on one of the keypads, but on
the other 2 keypads the buttons do other things. Do these buttons have to be
programmed on the keypads themselves? I was hoping that any setting I would
do with the software would get sent to all of the keypads on the system.

Did you enroll the keypads and assign an individual "slot" address to each
keypad

Each keypad has its own address, If i remember right section 000 has a
subsection for each keypad.

Yes they are enrolled, slot 6,7,8. I believe only #8 is getting the key
assignments. It is strange that they all get the zone label downloaded OK.

You have to go into programming on each keypad and set that in location 000

if you didnt have a keypad in slot 8, the labels would not be programmable
from the downloader either. :(

So are you saying that the buttons have to be locally set at the keypads?
How is it that the zone labels are downloaded to every keypad, but the other
stuff like buttons are not?

Actually each keypad's "options" can be individually set. This allows
you to disable keypad beeping on selected units as well. You don't want
to wake the wife when the bedroom keypad "beeps" when you're trying to
sneak in at night now, do you? :)

The installer will usually do this after he reviews all the options with
you. That's the way it should be done anyway.

It's designed that way in case you want to have different functions on each
keypad however you likely wouldn't want different labels for zones

Thanks for all of the replies. I understanded what is happening now. It
seems that all of the settiings from the software are sent to keypad 8 only.
